The Pupil Premium is additional funding to help schools close the attainment gap between children from low income and other disadvantaged families and their peers. The government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM). The funding is targeted to reach the pupils who need it most. The funding is based on the number of pupils who have been eligible for free school meals (FSM) at any point in the last 6 years (Ever6) or have been ‘looked after’ continuously for more than six months. Schools have the freedom to use the Pupil Premium grant in innovative ways that they think will best support the raising of attainment for the most vulnerable pupils.
At Limpsfield we recognise that not all pupils on the Pupil Premium Register will be socially disadvantaged but we are committed to providing a variety of opportunities that can enrich their lives further. We also recognise that not all vulnerable pupils are registered or qualify for Pupil Premium (PP). We reserve the right to support any pupil or groups of pupils that the school has legitimately identified as being disadvantaged to address the possible underlying inequalities between these groups of children and their peers.
At Limpsfield, we ensure that teaching and learning opportunities are designed to meet the needs of all our pupils. We do this by providing high quality classroom teaching supplemented by interventions to support vulnerable learners as and when required. To ensure this individual funding has a positive impact on the learners who need it most, we assess, on an individual basis, which additional provisions should be made in order that pupils are supported to achieve their full personal and academic potential. Each of our pupils eligible for PP is mentored weekly to encourage and discuss progress, provide feedback on learning and offer support.
If you think your child may be eligible for Free School Meals please contact the School Office, your call will be treated in the strictest confidence.
